We're a health-conscious family, and long before Bambrush existed, we were already trying to do the right thing — swapping plastic for bamboo wherever we could. Toothbrushes included.

We bought "bamboo toothbrushes" from other companies, the same way most people do: trusting the label. They said healthy alternative. They said BPA-free. We believed them, because why wouldn't we?

It wasn't until we started digging deeper into what we were actually putting in our mouths every single day that we found the truth. Those toothbrushes? Only the handle was bamboo. The bristles — the part that actually touches your teeth and gums twice a day — were still nylon. Still plastic.

And "BPA-free" doesn't mean plastic-free. It just means they swapped one toxic plastic for another, cheaper one. Every brush, every brush, was shedding microplastics and forever chemicals straight into our bloodstream — all while being marketed as the healthy choice.

That's the part that got us. It wasn't ignorance. These companies know exactly what their bristles are made of. They just knew "bamboo" would sell — and that most people would never think to ask about the bristles at all.
